I was able to increase the quality of a local video by allowing the film crew to use my high quality camera. The film crew did cover the insurance while using the camera for incase it broke while under their care.

Siya's story

Siya is 33 years old and lives in Durban. After completing his studies in Information Technology, Siya decided to start his own business selling computers and providing all I.T. related services. After seven years of being in the market, Siya has established himself as a respectable agent who sold computers and services at an affordable price. His business was small yet effective with three staff members.

Siya often reflected on his life when he was younger. Money was hard to come by, and resources were limited. He "saw" a computer for the first time when he started studying at College. He knew that many rural schools still did not have resources for learners. He had to do something and decided to buy all the components for a computer and assemble these after hours. Within two weeks Siya assembled twenty computers which he delivered and installed in a rural high school. He also offered to assist learners on how to use them. In donating computers Siya, gave up his treasures.

Giving of your treasure

Giving of your treasure, or financial resources, is a great way to support causes and organisations that you care about. Here are some steps you can take to give of your treasure:

  1. Identify causes and organisations: Start by identifying causes and organisations that align with your values and priorities. Consider what issues are important to you and how you want to make a difference.
  2. Set a giving goal: Set a giving goal that aligns with your values and financial situation. Consider how much you can afford to give and how you want to allocate your giving across different causes or organisations.
  3. Research organisations: Once you have identified causes and organisations that you want to support, research their financials and impact. Look for organizations that are transparent about their finances and have a strong track record of impact.
  4. Choose a giving strategy: There are many ways to give, including one-time donations, monthly donations, planned giving, and corporate giving programs. Choose a giving strategy that aligns with your values and financial situation.
  5. Give strategically: Consider how you want to allocate your giving across different causes or organizations. You may want to focus your giving on a few key organisations or spread it out across a variety of causes.
  6. Follow up and stay engaged: Follow up with the organisations you support to learn about their impact and how your donation is being used. Stay engaged by attending events, volunteering, or sharing their work with others.

Remember that giving of your treasure is a personal decision and there is no right or wrong way to give. By giving to causes and organisations that align with your values and priorities, you can make a positive impact on the world and create meaningful change.
