Pam's story
When Pam was in grade ten, she had to miss three months of school because she was involved in an accident and needed an operation. She knew that the surgery was vital for her survival. After the surgery, Pam was often in pain as the recovery was gruelling, and there were moments when she thought she would just give up. Pam’s family and community members would hold daily prayers for her, and this helped in keeping her grounded.
Pam learned that life would never be the same for her because her injuries caused her to have a limp and she could no longer run. After battling with herself and feeling that she was somehow different, Pam realised that she was blessed with another opportunity in life. She could still study, get a job and dream of a better life. Staying positive allowed her to keep up with her schoolwork and write the exams. She learned that no matter what obstacles came her way, staying positive allowed her to overcome them. She felt strong emotionally.
